The Iraqi freedom fi..., um, insurgents have got some nerve
To resist pacification with such unstinting verve.
Some believe in violence and are going to flaunt it.
Can we force peace on folks who really don't want it?

We're trying to give them democracy
By establishing an approved aristocracy.
Do we really think that through military scrimage
That we'll manage to remake Iraq in our image?

If the Trix bunny dressed out in desert camo khakis,
We might say, "Silly Rabbit, Iraq is for the Iraqis."
Preach me not about honor and all that jive.
Support our troops: bring them home alive.

War on What?

It seems to me to be in error
To think that we can make war on terror.
Terror is a tactic used in war,
So a war on terror is fighting fahr with fahr.
Seems like that could make an awful mess.
Seems like we'll get more terror, not less.

Every day in every way
I'm more full of it than yesterday
But that's okay
Cause I like myself anyway.

Motion is all that there is
All there is is motion
I'm a wavelet on the face of the deep
A ripple on the ocean

Vegetarian Counting

Eating meat is death for one
First you're here, then you're gone

Eating meat is death times two
First it kills the animal,
Then it kills you.

Eating meat is death times three
First it kills the animal
Then it kills me
Then it kills us all environmentally

Eating meat is death times four
Animal, diner, butcher, more

Eating meat is death times five
Nobody will be left alive

Eating meat is death...

Whether it's false or whether it's true
Greatly depends on my point of view.

False or True?

Whether it's false or whether it's true
Greatly depends on one's point of view

Did the tree in falling make a sound
When there was no one to hear around?

Only as much as the whippoorwill's call
Only as much as the acorn's fall
Only as much as the kids at the mall

Dance with the mystery
Ponder your history
What does it mean?
All of it green?

Green is the money
Green is the world
Blue is not funny
Pink is the girl

When the dance ends,
Who will take you home?
Will you be a friend?
Will you be alone?

When you are alone, you can still see your neighbor
Even with companions, you're alone in your labor

(You've heard this part before:)
If you sprinkle
when you tinkle,
Please be neat
and wipe the seat.

(Here's the part you haven't heard:)
If you don't, here's what you get:
Next time you need a spot to set,
Every one will be wet.

Admire... Desire (Cultural Lessons)

Admire honesty
Desire a good deal
If you can get it for free
That's ideal
After all, it's a steal

Admire generosity
Desire a good rate of return
See how much you can urn
During your sojourn
Know what I mean, Verne?

Admire contentment
Desire the new and improved widget
In the other guy's digits

Admire engagement
Desire escape
From the pressure to always do better
To save money more
Between shopping sprees at the nearest mall-store.

Admire commitment
Desire freedom
To fly free like a bird
Not a care in the world
No one in the way
To stifle your day

Admire compassion
Desire justice --
*My* rights and *my* dues
What's owed to me by all of youse

Admire giving
Desire getting
Chase the pleasure, flee the pain
Tally up all your losses and gains
And leave it to the next guy

People polarize

People polarize
We accuse each other of telling lies
We fight for the right until somebody dies
Without regard for a baby's cries
We struggle and strive to win the prize
Of persuading others to pretend we're wise
Hiding our greed and fear behind a disguise
And we all wind up disenfranchised
So that all of life is a bad surprise
When people polarize
It's hell

But sometimes...
People harmonize
Working together in the grand enterprise
Of helping everyone to rise
From the suffering of endless tears and sighs
To lift our smiles and brighten our eyes
When we realize that we all comprise
Part of the same big communal hive
That will die if we let ourselves sterilize
The beautiful world we could prioritize
When people harmonize
It's heaven

Here we go with tanks and guns.
Look at 'em scatter -- they're on the run.
We're firing shells and bombs by the millions.
Oops! We're hitting lots of civilians.

Still the rockets continue to fall
I guess we'll have to kill 'em all.
If we kill all of them and they kill all of us,
No one will be left to make a fuss.

I fired a rocket in the air.
It fell to earth just over there.
Look, here they come with tanks and guns.
Saddle up, boys, it's time to run.
